Ciancio and Capillo Lead U16 Boston Shamrocks To Win Over Jr. Bruins / 16U Elite Half Season

Halloween afternoon the U16 Boston Shamrocks faced off against the first place Boston Jr. Bruins. The Jr. Bruins entered the game scoring a league leading 6.64 goals per game. Last time these teams met the Shamrocks won 4-3 giving the Jr. Bruins only their second loss of the season.

After a scoreless first period the Shamrocks went out to a two goal lead on goals by David Ciancio, assisted by Chris DeSousa, and Nick Capillo, assisted by David Egan. The Jr. Bruins scored at the 8:10 mark of the second period to cut the Shamrocks lead in half at 2-1. Ciancio, assisted by DeSousa and Dylan Brown, scored his second goal to put the Shamrocks back up by two at 3-1. Before the second period ended the Jr. Bruins scored again to once again cut the Shamrocks lead to 1 goal at 3-2.

Five minutes into the final period, Nick Capillo, assisted by DeSousa and Aiden Crowley, scored his second goal to once again put the Shamrocks back up by two at 4-2. The Jr. Bruins would not go away quietly. 49 seconds later the Jr. Bruins scored to cut the Shamrocks lead to 1 goal for the third time at 4-3. This was the closest the Jr. Bruins would get as the Shamrocks defense stifled the Jr. Bruins for the final nine minutes of the game to come away with their second 4-3 win over the first place Boston Jr. Bruins.

With this win and a win over the Crimson Hockey Club Sunday afternoon in Everett the U16 Boston Shamrocks will clinch a berth in the MPDHL playoffs scheduled for next Sunday, November 8th.
